Who We Are

Helpertunity supports Recreation, Education & Volunteer Activities for Elderly, Disabled, and Itinerant Makers, with an emphasis on Creative Arts, Eco-Crafting, Technology & Vintage Game-Play. The organization was founded by Eileen Callejas, MA, MBA, MS IDT, AC, Ph.D. (abd) - a former school teacher who spent her summers working for parks and recreation and corporate team building companies.

Eileen took her love of crafting and ventured into the Healthcare & Therapeutic Recreation field back in 2001, and began working in nursing homes and eldercare facilities as an Activities Director. She studied the needs of disabled and itinerant Makers while completing her graduate business degree, and founded the organization to advocate for the advancement of Lifelong Learning, Healthcare Recreation Services, and Adaptive/Therapeutic Volunteerism.
